magazine type study (2025)

In the Typography Spring 25’ course, students were tasked with creating a collage utilizing grids and found type from magazine and other resources. Students were told to pay attention to type color; an element of typography that describes how dense or heavy the text appears on the page, to create a colloge that has a full range of type color while also creating some sort of design.

For this project I chose to base my design off of a quilted leaf pattern, when thinking of how to design a geometric grid-style design I immediately thought of quilts due to their normally geometric designs. I found a wide variety of type color as well as different shades of green and yellow to furhter emphasize the leaf pattern.
